At CHELCO, supporting the local community is at the heart of everything we do. Through a variety of internal initiatives like Jeans Friday and the Halloween Happenings Chili Cookoff, along with employee payroll deductions, we contribute to important causes year-round. Our commitment extends to offering employees paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO), allowing them to serve local non-profits for up to 8 hours during their normal work schedule. Additionally, programs like the Drebing Fund, Operation Round Up, and Members Helping Members empower us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Muriel "Midge" Drebing, a long-standing member of CHELCO, left a remarkable legacy following her passing in October of 2021. With a deep-rooted commitment to her community, Mrs. Drebing generously bequeathed $1.9 million to the CHELCO Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

Members who participate in Operation Round Up choose to round their monthly electric bill to the next whole dollar amount, and the spare change is distributed to non-profit organizations in our communities.

CHELCO's Members Helping Members program is an option for our members to donate $2 or more on a one-time or recurring basis to help families who are struggling to pay their electric bill.

Hosted annually, the CHELCO Charity Golf Tournament is a fun day with CHELCO staff, board members and community leaders. Funds have benefitted charities like the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the Emerald Coast Autism Center.

Throughout the year, CHELCO employees can voluntarily participate in various fundraising and donation efforts for local non-profits, including our annual School Supply Drive, monthly Jeans Friday, and the competitive Chili Cookoff held each October.

At CHELCO, we see the value in supporting activities that make our community a better place to live. That’s why we offer employees up to 8 hours each year to volunteer with a 501(c)(3) non-profit servicing our local community.
