Opportunities With Co-ops
Employment opportunities at cooperatives
Electric cooperatives developed their own co-op-tailored benefits over 60 years ago through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), their national association. These benefits, which most, but not all, co-ops subscribe to, are the standard for all electric cooperative benefits. Whether you work for a small, mid-size or large electric cooperative, you will get the same level of benefits. NRECA benefits also are portable between co-ops that participate in their plans.
As a rule electric cooperatives offer competitive salaries and excellent benefits:
- Medical, dental and vision insurance
- Retirement plans
- Protective insurances, including life, AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment, short and long-term disability
- Vacation, holidays, paid leave and sick leave
- Other benefits, depending upon the co-op, such as flexible spending accounts, service awards, wellness programs and more
Education and Training
Cooperatives are committed to giving employees opportunities to learn, grow and advance in their careers. Whether you are looking to increase your skill set, advance in your job or change jobs, you can take advantage of a full range of distance learning and professional accreditation and certifications programs, as well as professional development programs. Most electric co-ops offer tuition reimbursement to obtain a certification or degree.
