DeFuniak Springs, Fla. (May 28, 2020) - To show appreciation and gratitude to first responders and healthcare workers, and to support local restaurants during the coronavirus pandemic, CHELCO launched a “We’re In This Together” campaign to deliver pizza, cookies and other treats to the essential workers in the community.

CHELCO has provided pizza to the DeFuniak Springs Police Department, DeFuniak Springs Fire Department and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, while supporting That Pizza Place in DeFuniak Springs and LC’s Pizza in Freeport. CHELCO has also delivered a platter of cookies, made by local caterer I Cook You Eat, to the Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

“During these challenging times, it is necessary to come together and stand in solidarity to give hope to the community,” said Emily Cowan, Vice President of Member Services and External Affairs. “Providing pizza and cookies to first responders and healthcare workers is only a small gesture, but it’s important to show support for them now more than ever.”

CHELCO would like to thank first responders, healthcare workers and all those who continue to provide essential services through the pandemic. We’re in this together.

CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 53,000 member accounts in Okaloosa, Walton, Santa Rosa and Holmes counties.
