CHELCO system fully restored following Hurricane Sally
As of Thursday, September 17 at 9 p.m., less than two days after Hurricane Sally made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane, all power was restored to CHELCO members who were capable of receiving service.
At the height of the storm, over 8,100 CHELCO members were without power. CHELCO crews, contractors and support staff worked through the night Wednesday. Since Tuesday, CHELCO has restored power to nearly 25,000 total members who were affected by Hurricane Sally.
“We appreciate our members’ patience and understanding as our crews worked tirelessly to restore their power,” said CEO Steve Rhodes. “Despite the challenges presented by the heavy rain, wind and flooding, we are happy to report that none of our crewmembers were injured during storm restoration efforts.”
CHELCO urges members to contact CHELCO if their power has not been restored by calling 1-800-342-0990.
CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 53,000 accounts in Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes and Santa Rosa counties.
