DeFuniak Springs (July 14, 2021) – The National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (NRECA) recently announced the Spotlight on Excellence winners, and CHELCO received a “Silver” award in the “Best Total Communication Plan” category for their “We’re in this Together” campaign during COVID-19.

Each year, the NRECA recognizes the outstanding work produced by electric cooperative communication and marketing professionals from across the country. The 16 categories reflect the wide scope and valuable contributions of co-op communicators today.

During the campaign, the CHELCO communications team coordinated a yearlong communication strategy to connect with members of the community, showing that CHELCO was there to show their support in 2020.

“This is a big deal for us. Since I joined CHELCO in 2013, we had not yet won a Spotlight on Excellence Award,” said CEO Steve Rhodes. “Our team did a fantastic job of coordinating this campaign, and I’m proud that they have been recognized for their excellent work.”

CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 56,000 accounts in Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes and Santa Rosa counties.
