DeFuniak Springs (July 7, 2021) – CHELCO recently raised more than $10,800 to benefit the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Friends for Autism Awareness.
Emily Cowan, Vice President of Member Services and External Affairs, said CHELCO is eager to get back to hosting more community events.
“We found new ways to support our community during the pandemic,” Cowan said. “Our employees are passionate about so many causes, so we’re very excited to raise money to help those who need it most.”
The 2021 CHELCO Charity Golf Tournament, held May 20 at Blackstone Golf Course, was CHELCO’s first in-person fundraiser since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Bonnie Whitfield, CHELCO’s Communications and Community Affairs Supervisor, said that the tournament raised more money than any other event in recent history.
“With the pandemic, we haven’t been able to host many of our usual fundraising events,” Whitfield said. “I’m thankful to our employees who volunteered and for all of our sponsors who made our tournament a huge success.”
The tournament, which sold out with 18 teams of four, would not have been possible without the sponsors who helped raise money for these causes, including those who contributed $1,000 at the Gold Level: Ritz Stores, Majors Financial Group, Tri-State Utility Products and Clary-Glenn Funeral Homes.
As pandemic restrictions continue to be lifted, visit CHELCO.com and follow CHELCO on social media, @MyCHELCO on all platforms, to stay up-to-date on all upcoming community events.
