DeFuniak Springs (May 27, 2021) – Dwayne Davis was elected to the CHELCO Board of Trustees in the board elections held in March and April, and announced at the CHELCO Virtual Annual Meeting on April 17. He will represent District 9, which includes the Freeport and Red Bay area.

Davis has been associated with the power generation and distribution field for over 30 years. He started his career with CHELCO, and later worked with the construction management team with Exxon Mobile and China Light & Power in Hong Kong. He also worked with Duke Energy for projects in North and South Carolina.

Davis defeated incumbent District 9 trustee Burt Cosson, who had served on the CHELCO Board of Trustees since 2009. CEO Steve Rhodes said that Cosson’s service to the membership was appreciated, and he looks forward to working with the newly-elected Davis.

“Speaking on behalf of CHELCO, we appreciate Mr. Cosson’s many years of service and wish him the best. His attention to cost control was an asset to our co-op,” Rhodes said. “I look forward to Mr. Davis’ leadership and insight, and I’m confident he will be an asset to our Board of Trustees and represent our members in District 9 well.”

CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 56,000 accounts in Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes and Santa Rosa counties.
